Host an Event

At Girl Power Africa, we believe that every person has the power to make a difference, no matter how big or small. That’s why we’re always looking for creative and fun ways to fundraise for our mission of empowering women and girls in Liberia, West Africa. Here are a few examples of fundraising events you can host to support our cause:

1. Host a Bake Sale: Bake some delicious treats and sell them to your friends, family, and colleagues. You can even set up a table at a local event or market to reach a wider audience. Be sure to price your goodies appropriately and consider including information about Girl Power Africa on your packaging or signage.
   
2. Plant Sale: Host a plant sale and sell a variety of plants to your friends and family. You can even set up a table at a local event or market to reach a wider audience. Be sure to price your plants appropriately and include information about Girl Power Africa.
   
3. Jewelry Sale: Host a jewelry sale and sell a variety of handmade or donated jewelry pieces to your friends and family. Be sure to price your pieces appropriately and include information about Girl Power Africa.
   
4. Community Garage Sale: Organize a community-wide garage sale and donate a portion of the proceeds to Girl Power Africa. Encourage your neighbors to participate and advertise the event on social media and through flyers.
   
5. Organize a Charity Walk or Run: Rally your friends and family to participate in a charity walk or run. You can ask for pledges or donations for each mile completed or charge a registration fee to participate. Be sure to create a memorable experience for your participants by choosing a scenic route, offering snacks and water along the way, and creating a festive atmosphere.
   
6. Yoga or Fitness Class: Host a fitness class or yoga session and charge a fee for participants. You can hold the event in a park or community center and provide refreshments and snacks for attendees.
   
7. Book Sale: Collect used books from your community and host a book sale. Charge a fee for each book sold and donate the proceeds to Girl Power Africa.
   
8. Virtual Trivia Night: Host a virtual trivia night using a platform like Zoom or Google Meet. Charge an entry fee and award prizes to the winners. You can even theme your trivia questions around African culture and history to make it educational and fun.
   
9. Movie Screening: Rent out a local theater or use a projector to host an outdoor movie screening. Charge admission and sell snacks and drinks to raise money for Girl Power Africa.
   
10. Car Wash: Host a car wash and charge a fee for each car washed. Advertise the event through flyers, social media, and word of mouth to attract a large number of customers.
    
11. Talent Show: Host a talent show and invite members of your community to participate. Charge an admission fee for attendees and offer prizes for the top performers. Be sure to promote the event heavily to attract a large audience.
    
12. Raffle: Collect donated prizes from local businesses and sell raffle tickets for a chance to win. Make sure to promote the raffle on social media and through word of mouth to increase ticket sales.
    
13. Art Auction: Host an art auction featuring local artists and donate a portion of the proceeds to Girl Power Africa. You can sell tickets to attend the event and provide refreshments for guests.
    
14. Online Auction: Host an online auction using a platform like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. Collect donated items from your community and set up an auction page with photos and descriptions of each item. Encourage your network to bid on the items and donate the proceeds to Girl Power Africa.
    
15. Silent Auction: Reach out to local businesses and ask for donations of products or services to include in a silent auction. Set up a display with bid sheets and encourage attendees to bid on the items they want. Be sure to create a welcoming and enticing atmosphere by providing refreshments and music.
