Otis barely passed first grade! His promotion to second grade was made possible by his sheer determination to succeed despite struggling with an off and on illness during most of his school year. It is not clear what condition Otis was battling but the good news is that he is doing much better. This is commonplace among families who cannot afford to send their child to a medical center and relies upon locally available herbal remedies. A short-term treatable illness at a health center becomes a long-term recovery struggle for families like Otis who cannot afford the cost of standard medical treatment. Supporting Otis’ determination is just one of the many things that put a smile on the face and heart of the GPA family. Sponsored by: Larry Thompson

Thanks to the generous donation from Larry Thompson, Otis has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. He was promoted to the 1st grade this year and now wants to work on trains. Otis lost his mother 3 days ago and was at the funeral during our school distributions this year. His materials were left with the school principal. He’s going to move in with his uncle after his mother’s burial.

Thanks to the generous donation from Brittany Meyers, Otis has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. He is in the K-2 grade this year and still wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He had been very sick, at the beginning of the year, but was taken to the sick bush for treatment and is now back in school and doing well. He continues to live with his parents.
