PATIENCE: S50-SAN

Patience is now 18 years old and has been promoted to the 8th grade this year. We are so proud of her continued progress and maturity. When we asked her what worries she might have, she quietly shared that she was afraid that now that she is 18, she might no longer be sponsored because she is considered an adult. We assured her that this is not the case—that as long as she remains serious about her education and is committed to graduating from high school, we will continue to stand beside her and support her journey. Hearing this brought such relief and excitement to her face. At home, Patience carries significant responsibility. After school, she goes to the well to draw water, carries it home, and then prepares the family’s meal. Her family eats once a day, usually around seven o’clock at night, after she finishes cooking. Despite these daily responsibilities, she remains focused and determined in school. Patience continues to live with her grandmother and still dreams of building a better future through education. Her resilience, leadership, and strong sense of responsibility make us incredibly proud. Thank you for continuing to believe in Patience and helping her move closer to achieving her dreams. Patience was promoted to the 7th grade this year and was elected as her class secretary, a testament to her dedication and leadership qualities. Her teacher describes her as very respectful, which has earned her admiration from both peers and teachers. At 17 years old, Patience continues to dream of becoming a police officer one day. Her favorite subject is reading, and she spends her weekends selling goods to help support herself and her grandmother. During the week, she enjoys school, playing soccer, spending time with friends, cooking, and cleaning.
