Seventeen-year-old Oneka proudly advanced to the third grade! Despite facing challenges in the past, she has been diligently working to catch up with her peers who are the same age as her. After school, she devotes much of her time to studying, seeking additional support from her older cousin who serves as her tutor. Oneka’s determination shines through as she continues to reside with her aunt, nurturing her dream of becoming a doctor one day.

2021

Thanks to the generous donation from Kathryn O’Rourke, Oneka has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She received an incomplete for the 2020/2021 school year. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, schools in Liberia had irregular school schedule. This combined with the lack of technology in the schools, some schools made the decision to keep students in their current grade level for the 2021/2022 school year. Oneka was kept in her current grade level of 2^nd grade for the upcoming school year. She continues to live with her doctor and still wants to be an aunt when she grows up.

Thanks to the generous donation from Jurga Jokimciute, Oneka has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. She is in the 2^nd grade this year and she’s been a leader at school. Her confidence is growing and she’s putting a lot of work into learning. She still wants to be a doctor when she grows up and she continues to live with her aunt.

Meet Olinkeh (Oneka), who has been generously sponsored by Jurga Jokimciute. She is 12 years old and, in the kindergarten, -2 this year. Oneka is an orphan who lives in Gbobayee, Liberia with her unemployed aunt. Her interests are going to school, and she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
