Marie was retained in third grade. It is not clear why she was retained. At sixteen years old she is still determined to graduate from high school, and she is determined to get a double promotion this school year. Marie is thankful for the gift of a scholarship. Marie has been re-enrolled into school for the 2021/2022 school year. She was promoted to the 3rd grade this year and is 15 years old now. Her favorite subject is math. She walks along the streets selling fabrics to help buy food for her and her grandmother. Thanks to the generous donation from Jennifer Parker.

Thanks to the generous donation from Jennifer Parker, Marie has been re-enrolled into school for the 2020/2021 school year. Her eye sight has been improving little by little, year by year and she’s excelling in life, society, and school. She is so grateful for this new phase of life of starting to be able to see. She still wants to be a tailor when she grows up. She continues to live with her grandmother.

Meet Marie (who is extremely camera shy), who has been generously sponsored by Ken Rahn (as a birthday gift for Jolene McNamee Ibeling and Charmaine Pellitterie). She is 11 years old and is in the kindergarten-1 this year. Marie’s mother died about 4 years ago. She was her mom’s pride and joy. She went everywhere with her mom. Marie was born blind and about 2 years ago she began to see. She is living with her unemployed grandmother, who could not afford to send her to school. Marie hopes to be a tailor when she grows up. She enjoys the textures of fabrics and dressing up.
